We are looking for participants for our studies on aggression and emotions — with and without a mental disorder. The studies run at four sites and differ in procedure, time commitment and compensation. Expand the site that works for you.

Negative and positive emotions shape our lives, our mood and how we get along with other people. They also play a major role in mental disorders. We therefore aim to capture these emotions over a longer period of time in order to improve treatment options.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for patients with a range of mental disorders who are willing to answer several diagnostic interviews and questionnaires and to give us a blood sample as well as saliva samples for the assessment of genetic and hormonal factors.
Inclusion criteria
- Age: 18 to 40 years
- Language: fluent German
What is involved
- Interviews and questionnaires
- Saliva and blood sample
- Duration per appointment: approx. two hours
- Sessions: one to two appointments per year
- Study period: up to four years
Compensation
- 50 euros per annual assessment
- An additional up to 20 euros for full participation in all parts of the assessment
- Travel costs can be reimbursed

Anger and frustration are part of our lives and shape how we deal with ourselves and with others. But what happens when such feelings become so strong that they lead to aggression? For our research study we are looking for people with more pronounced irritability and aggression. The aim is to better understand these emotions and the options for dealing with them.

- Age: 18 to 40 years
- Language: fluent German
- With or without a mental disorder

- Imaging session (magnetic resonance imaging)
- Interviews and questionnaires
- Saliva samples
- Approx. 5–6 hours in total

Who we are looking for
We are looking for participants with a range of mental disorders, who may or may not recognise aggressive behaviour in themselves, and who are willing to answer several diagnostic interviews and questionnaires, undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) session, and give us saliva and/or blood samples.
Inclusion criteria
- Age: 18 to 40 years
- Language: fluent German
What is involved
- Imaging session (magnetic resonance imaging)
- Interviews and questionnaires
- Saliva samples
- Duration per appointment: three to five hours
- Sessions: one to a maximum of four appointments per year, depending on your availability
- Study period: up to four years
Compensation
- Approx. 15 €/h for on-site participation, with additional compensation for taking part in the regular app-based survey
- Travel costs can be reimbursed

We are looking both for participants who recognise strong anger or aggression in themselves and have a mental disorder, and for participants in good mental health. For our control group we are equally looking for people without a mental disorder.
Inclusion criteria
- Age: 18 to 40 years
- A diagnosed mental disorder
- Recognising aggressive behaviour in yourself — this is not a requirement
- Language: fluent German
What is involved
- Imaging session (magnetic resonance imaging)
- Interviews and questionnaires
- Saliva and/or blood samples
- Duration per appointment: three to five hours
- Sessions: one to a maximum of four appointments per year, entirely according to your availability
- Study period: up to four years
Compensation
- 15 euros per hour for on-site participation
- Additional compensation for taking part in a regular app-based survey
What happens to your data
All assessments are scientifically sound. We treat the results strictly confidentially, observing professional secrecy and data protection. Once the study has concluded we will gladly inform you about the results.
